If you buy a new sewing machine, it will come with accessories to assist in your sewing projects. But if you buy a used machine, you may or may not get any accessories. But buying new or used, you may want or need additional sewing machine attachments.
Sewing machine attachments are as numerous as the amount of sewing machines available. There are what are considered some basic attachments that allow for a greater range of just sewing stitches.
Attachments that come with just about every sewing machine are presser feet. There is the buttonhole foot, zipper foot, and a straight stitch foot. If you have machine that does embroidery, it will come with an embroidery foot. If your sewing machine can be used for quilting, it will have a quilting foot. The way that it usually works is, the more expensive and/or specialized the machine is the more extra attachments come with it.
There are many other attachments that you can buy for even more specialized sewing projects such as making ruffles, tucks, narrow and wide hems, lace, gathers, and more.
Experienced sewers and beginners or occasional sewers will really appreciate having these pieces because they help to get projects completed faster and with precision. In order to insure that the attachments fit your machine, be sure to get the specific attachments for your make and model of sewing machine.
